TAIKO for Fun,
Fitness, and Cultural Awareness
Kenny Endo and the instructors of the Taiko Center of the Pacific teach traditional and contemporary Japanese drumming. Taking a holistic approach to the art of Taiko, TCP also educates students on aspects of Japanese culture, etiquette, and language while developing skills in rhythm and movement. Choose from classes for children, teens, and adults in the Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. Also, for those who want a focused study in more specific elements of taiko, check out our Summer Taiko Intensives.
Classes for the general public are held year-round. The one-hour classes meet every week on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at various times depending on the class. Schedules for the remainder of the year are tentative.
No experience is necessary.
All classes are held at Kapiolani Community College Annex Building (a.k.a. "The Chapel" located in the parking lot on the Diamond Head side of campus), 4303 Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Class registration is completed through Kapiolani Community College's Office of Continuing Education and Training (Non-Credit Programs). To register, call (808) 734-9211 or click here to download a registration form (Acrobat Reader required).
For all classes, please wear comfortable clothing, bring taiko sticks (available at first class meeting), earplugs, indoor footwear (optional), and water for your own consumption (optional).
